Volunteer Spotlight: Rachelle Brockman and Tracy Slywka

It’s National Volunteer Week, and to recognize it we’re highlighting some of our stellar volunteers throughout the week. These men and women make good things happen for people affected by TS across the country every day, and we’re grateful for their energy and dedication. Thank a volunteer today or nominate a volunteer for a National Volunteer Award.

Rachelle Brockman and Tracy Slywka

Saskatoon, SK just got a whole lot more Tourette thanks to the efforts of two volunteers, Rachelle Brockman and Tracy Slywka. These two mothers coordinated the prairie city’s first ever Trek for Tourette this March. It had a huge turnout, one of the biggest in Canada, and brought the local TS community together like never before. Not only did they make the Trek a great success, but they also got coverage on just about every media outlet in the area, including Global TV (as seen in the photo featured here), Shaw TV and CTV, raising priceless TS awareness in a major Canadian city.

Rachelle is also trained as a facilitator in the It’s Your Move youth personal development program.

For all that this dynamic volunteer duo has done, we salute them and thank them on behalf of the many people affected by TS whom they help.

If you would like to help recognize a volunteer, please send an email with a photo of them and a description of why they’re special (please get their permission first!) to Ken at ken@tourette.ca.
