‘Affiliate Highlights’ Highlight: The Lower Sackville Resource Unit

Our newly released Annual Report 2011-2012 features highlights from our affiliates across the country. In the coming days we will be featuring each of them on our blog. Today we showcase the ever helpful Lower Sackville Resource UnitThis past year was a challenging one for the Lower Sackville Resource Unit. However, what the Resource Unit lacked in volunteers, it made up for in heart. Though Resource Unit Leader, Elisabeth Sanders, sustained a serious ankle injury, the Resource Unit still participated in the Trek for Tourette fundraiser. A special thanks goes out to Trek Coordinator Holly Kent for all her help! In February, Elisabeth showed her and the Unit’s support for the Police Curling Association, long-time donors to the TSFC, by attending their championships along with fellow member and husband, Frans Sanders. In March, the Resource Unit received several inquiries from parents in the community and in response, they organized a meet and greet session to help parents of children with TS get to know other parents in the same situation. The Resource Unit is looking forward to the next year; they hope to recruit additional volunteers and to organize new and improved events in the community.
