Imagine if the people around you, your friends, family, fellow students, co-workers, even the people you pass on the street, could know what it feels like to have Tourette Syndrome. On June 19th we are going to give people a chance to experience TS first hand. Surrender Your Say will launch on June 19th at 9:00. The Surrender Your Say campaign will bring increased awareness about Tourette Syndrome. People who sign up will be giving up control of their online voice – their Twitter feed. For one day, participants will experience tics in the form of Tweets. Participants will use their twitter account as usual throughout the day; however, their account will also ‘tic.’ Vocal tics will be tweeted to their Twitter followers, mimicking a day in the life of real people with Tourette Syndrome. You can help out by signing up to participate at www.surrenderyoursay.com. Encourage your friends to sign up as well. Tweet about the event. The more people who participate, the bigger the impact the campaign will have. When a user Surrenders, they will not be providing their Twitter password, nor will Surrender Your Say have access to their password or other account information. They will also be able to log in and Tweet normally during their 24-hour period. Surrender Your Say Tweets will simply be in addition to their regular stream of Tweets. This isn’t the TSFC’s first unconventional awareness initiative. In 2011, we partnered with Saatchi and Saatchi and successfully released @Random- an online documentary that showcases the lives of many different people with Tourette Syndrome. @Random (www.atrandom.com) has gone on to win multiple awards and gained worldwide attention and awareness about Tourette Syndrome. The creative geniuses at Saatchi and Saatchi have developed this new campaign, Surrender Your Say, so further awareness about Tourette Syndrome.
