Volunteer Spotlight: Dara Choy

It’s National Volunteer Week, and to recognize it we’re highlighting some of our stellar volunteers throughout the week. These men and women make good things happen for people affected by TS across the country every day, and we’re grateful for their energy and dedication. Thank a volunteer today or nominate a volunteer for a National Volunteer Award.

Dara Choy

If you were to write down all the contributions Dara has made to the TS cause in her area (Edmonton, AB), you would think it was the work of at least five volunteers. She is the TSFC Edmonton Chapter President, assisting people with TS throughout the Edmonton area and well beyond by helping to organize events such as support meetings, information sessions and social gatherings. Dara, along with other amazing volunteers, organized Planes, Trains and Auctionables, the Edmonton Chapter’s highly successful annual fundraiser. She also serves as the Chapter’s In-Service Chair, coming to schools and teaching students and faculties about Tourette Syndrome. For shining in all of these roles while simultaneously raising a family with TS in the picture, we salute Dara and thank her from the bottom of our hearts on behalf of the countless individuals she helps. If you would like to help recognize a volunteer, please send an email with a photo of them and a description of why they’re special (please get their permission first!) to Ken at ken@tourette.ca.
