It’s National Volunteer Week, and to recognize it we’re highlighting some of our stellar volunteers throughout the week. These men and women make good things happen for people affected by TS across the country every day, and we’re grateful for their energy and dedication. Thank a volunteer today or nominate a volunteer for a National Volunteer Award.
Muskoka people care, and Shawn Forth, a schoolteacher with TS from Bracebridge, ON, shines even amongst these caring people of cottage country, which says quite a lot about him. Shawn organizes support meetings in the Muskoka area (there’s even one coming up on May 1st!). He also runs the annual Muskoka Trek for Tourette, which attracts an awesome crowd each year. As if that weren’t enough, he also raises awareness for TS in the area by doing things like writing incredible news editorials. We thank Shawn for his dedication to the TS cause and for being a constant inspiration to others as a volunteer. Here’s a photo of Shawn talking to a CTV News crew during the 2012 Trek for Tourette: If you would like to help recognize a volunteer, please send an email with a photo of them and a description of why they’re special (please get their permission first!) to Ken at firstname.lastname@example.org.
